The injured tentacles thrash backwards out of sight, almost as fast as they appeared.

"You try to stick this on me!" hisses the voice, far closer than seems natural, as if the words are in Maruki's head. "But you're always in the right, aren't you, Maruki-san? Nothing could ever make you doubt yourself, could it?! No matter what you did! No matter your self-centred presumption!"

The eyes vanish, with a flash. And, next thing, the tentacles reappear—but surrounding Maruki, as if growing out of the walls themselves, thrashing, twisting, countless in number—and intent on murder.
